Vision and Goals of Employer Relations

To support Chatham University students in developing into high-caliber, values-driven professionals through intentional career integration and meaningful engagement with employers, cultivating the competencies, self-awareness, and real-world experience required to pursue purpose-driven careers with confidence and integrity

  • Strengthen the employability of Chatham University students by embedding employer engagement into curricular and co-curricular learning experiences that support the development of key professional competencies, career identity, and transferable skills, while fostering relationships with employers who share the University’s commitment to purpose-driven, values-based work.

  • Broaden partnerships with local and regional industries to create intentional, high-impact engagement opportunities, including classroom integration, applied projects, mentoring, and early talent exposure, that connect academic learning to real-world practice and support the growth of both students and the surrounding community.

  • Advocate for and collaborate with employers that prioritize inclusive hiring practices, while co-developing career pathways and engagement experiences that ensure all students, particularly those from underrepresented populations, have meaningful access to skill development, professional networks, and career-launch opportunities.

  • Initiate and support sustained partnerships across academic departments, faculty, student organizations, and the Office of Career Development to align employer engagement with learning outcomes, competency frameworks, and career readiness goals, ensuring a cohesive and inclusive approach to employer engagement that meets the evolving needs of students, faculty, and employers.
