How will your time here impact your future endeavors and lead you closer to your professional or personal goals?
“My time at Career Development has shown me how crucial self-advocacy is to living a fulfilled life in line with your goals and values. In various ways I have gotten to practice advocating for myself in a professional setting while working here, and these skills I have developed will lead me to being able achieve my goals in the future.”
What would you tell your younger self when they first started their Chatham/career development journey?
“It’s all going to work out and you don’t have to worry so much! Cherish the little things, and don’t rush what isn’t meant for you yet.”
What advice would you give to someone first starting out?
“Because of how romanticized college tends to be, there’s so much pressure on you at this time to make a lot of friends, and to get involved. While it is important to find outlets where you can explore who you are and be involved in things, at the end of the day, you know yourself best, so listen to yourself. Trust yourself and know that it will work out some way or another. It always does :).”
What message do you have for the supervisors and coworkers who help you grow?
“To my supervisor for 2 years straight, Hannah Su Hepler, you have taught me so much and I will forever be thankful for your guidance and leadership. You were the first person to make Pittsburgh feel a little more like home, and I am lucky to call you a role model. You are such a light and make an incredible difference on this campus.
To my current supervisor, Josh Zeigler, I’m so thankful to have gotten to know you and to have had the opportunity to work with you! You are a wonderful asset to our office.
To all my coworkers, thank you for being some of the first friends I made here, and for always having great yap sessions. You will all do so many amazing things. I can’t wait to watch you continue to succeed!”
